  • The Second City
    Freelance Exec.Producer/Consultant
The Second City Mar 2011 - Jun 2011
    Los Angeles Ca
I helped my friends at The Second City move into the world of commercial sketch comedy know to many more as branded content. They were asked to have one of their well know characters sponsor a beverage additive product. Brian Gallivan created the character, Sassy Gay Friend and Mio, the beverage additive, was the product who wanted to tie themselves to the character. I help bridge the two worlds, offering advice in a consulting role to the head of production in the dealings with the client, as needed, as well as preform my usual role as producer. Together we put out 5 original sketches with product tie-ins as well as 3 man on the street videos where Brian, as Sassy Gay Friend, interviewed passers by and enticed them to try the product. • Waymack And Crew
    Executive Producer
    Waymack And Crew 2004 - 2005
    Little Rock Ar
Waymack and Crew would be considered the Regional version of Service Station or in actuality the original Service Station, it made sense at the time to run both companies together. We were selling ourselves to a smaller market. Looking to work with companies who thought they wouldn't be able to work with Service Station as our reel had some pretty high dollar spots on it. Waymack and Crew was a way to keep the door open to small agencies and direct business clients with smaller budgets.
  • Digital Ranch Branded Content
    Owner/Ep
    Digital Ranch Branded Content 2000 - 2003
    Greater Los Angeles Area
Produced Army of One television commercials, which just happened to be the first integrated TV/Web campaign. Our work received a Cyber Lion at Cannes. I continued to produce these integrated recruiting commercials for four years. Each campaign consisted of national spots that lead you to the Army's website, where you watched the content we provided. We also produced a series for History Channel from the footage we shot during the commercial/content shoots we did.
  • Commercial Film Industry
    Line Producer/Production Supervisor/1St Assistant Director
    Commercial Film Industry 1992 - 2000
    Greater Chicago Area
I always believed this approach is what made me into the EP I am today. Working for these years both on set as a 1st AD and behind the scenes as a production manager and then line producer trains you to see the cause and effect of all decisions you make. On a tech scout, for example, as an AD you would push for a larger crew because you know you need the man power to get the job done, but as the line producer, you know you don't have the money in those lines to make that happens to in your heart you know if you don't find it somewhere else in the budget, the OT is going to eat you up. As a production manager, you learn to chase the dollars so you can arm your LP with the info he/she needs to make the right calls in the heat of production. The experience you gain form holding each of those positions is invaluable, almost necessary I believe. Being able to communicate issues to your client through those glasses is what will set you apart.
  • Big Deahl Productions
    Stage Manager
Big Deahl Productions Mar 1991 - Oct 1992
    Chicago, Il
I was hired as a freelance PA and worked for Big Deahl in that capacity for a few months before I was offered this job. Big Deahl is and was then a table top studio. David, the director, shot food and lots of it. We were always shooting. I was responsible for keeping the place stocked with everything we needed to make those shoots successful. From gaff tape to dry ice from cotton swabs to film stock. It was a great place to learn the just how important it is to have all the right tools for a job.
