At the BCA I performed many duties including: office management, preparation and delivery of educational workshops, development of marketing email campaigns, creation of instructional educational materials. The role was exciting and varied and allowed me to learn about 3D Printing, Laser Cutting and Arduino. Eventually I contributed to the development of training materials (videos, guides, lesson plans) for schools on the above technologies as we released a GCSE equivalent qualification (Smart Product Design). My role developed to include setting up events at trade shows and running live educational technology workshops to the public (venues included NEC, Messe Frankfurt, Barbican, V&A, Science Museum). I would routinely visit schools and work with teachers and students to develop their skills in these emerging technologies, including setting up an online learning platform to aid the education.

At this point in my early career I decided to work for myself and develop my business acumen by applying my film and media skills to my own productions. I've always been entrepreneurial in nature and this was the first time I could truly develop and manage business opportunities, from start to finish. I developed relationships with local business (including property developers, estate agents, traders) and provided videography services. I would attend local business networking meetings, prepare my own email marketing campaigns, worked with freelancers to create a logo, branding and website to advertise my business. Additionally I advertised myself as a freelancer and with my own kit could attend shoots for other productions.

Throughout my studies I completed a range of temporary jobs including admin, customer service, warehousing and sales roles. After graduating in Film and Media Production I took my first role at MyTVOnline. Here I began as an intern and quickly secured a full-time position as a Video Editor. This allowed me to develop my skills in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Audition) as well as Final Cut Pro. I broadened my skills by attending and assisting on video shoots and moved quickly onto camera operating. Often I would shoot entire films for small businesses, schools and colleges, including location planning, client communication, conducting interviews, filming cutaways and finally editing the content. This role allowed me to develop my confidence and technical skills. I often worked in a team or independently and consistently worked with a tight budget and delivered projects with short timelines.
