I act as a focal point within Airspace Regulation for matters relating to the coordination and use of new airspace users, taking account of the need for integration of emergent user groups, including Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Advanced Air Mobility, High Altitude, Future Flight Challenge and the BVLOS/TRA Sandbox. I support, develop and implement policies for the safe and integrated operation of emerging user groups, ensuring that policies such as the UK and JARUS SORA are developed in partnership with other National Aviation Authorities, academic researchers and industry subject matter experts, to align with national and international regulations and safety management principles. I act as a subject matter expert to working and delivery groups within the UK CAA, including Target Level of Safety (TLS), C2 link, Detect and Avoid (DAA), Electronic Conspicuity (EC), Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) and Military Aviation Authority (MAA) coordination. I am also Principal for Off Route Airspace, where I lead a team that oversees Airspace Restrictions, Emergency Restriction of Flying (ERF), Air Intercept and Lost Communications, which require co-ordination across multiple government agencies including DfT, MoD, Home Office, Cabinet Office, Police and NATS. I support and at times, deputise for the Manager of Airspace Regulation. -
B737 Captain & Crew Resourse Management TrainerJet2.Com Nov 2011 - Nov 2022Manchester, United KingdomAs a Boeing 737 Captain I was responsible for a £40million aircraft and the safety and well-being of 200 passengers and crew on a daily basis, flying to destinations from Scandinavia to the Canary Islands and across Europe to the Eastern Mediterranean. This role was instrumental in Jet2.com’s award winning customer service, rated the number 1 airline in UK by customer service feedback, top 5 in Europe and top 10 in the world. As Captain I led complex problem solving and support decision making with both senior and junior members of the crew, required to ensure the highest standards of safety in a team where people are the greatest asset. Responsible for realizing company cost saving measures including fuel savings, reduced engine wear, route optimization and weather avoidance based on detailed analysis of pre and inflight data, resulting in a significant cost saving for the company. In a secondary role I was a Human Factors Facilitator which encompasses training design and delivery of in person PowerPoint lessons, along with virtual and online training support. This role also included delivery of fatigue prevention training, mental health awareness, flight safety investigation debriefs and the delivery of Command Preparation courses for First Officers developing towards promotion. As a motivated self starter I highlighted several training deficiencies, providing research into new content and developed lesson plans within the department. These have been adopted into the company’s manuals and have been delivered across the company in initial and recurrent training programs. Following a training needs analysis, I became project manager for a bespoke leadership training programme which I designed and delivered to further the Officer Cadets development towards selection for full RAF service. During this period I was the RAF Flight Safety Officer at the airfield, the Flight Operations duty officer on a bi weekly basis and was given temporary command of the squadron for several periods of Commanding Officers absence. Completed the RAF Interviewing and Selection Officers Course, in order to recruit RAF Reservists to the Squadron. -

Decision making and problem solving in difficult combat conditions by day and night in an extreme environment. Acted as Squadron Duty Officer on a weekly basis to plan and programme flights, using detailed analysis of intelligence data and multi national tasking requirements. Additionally, as the Squadron Press Officer I acted as the relationship manager for all journalists and photographers, whilst personally delivering a written communications strategy with both internal and external agencies, resulting in publication in the national press. Project Manager for the coordination of an important morale boosting visit by the BBC Top Gear presenters to the deployed troops in Helmand Province. -

In a secondary role I was the Treasurer of one of the RAFs largest Officers Messes and as financial manager for funds of around £600,000pa, I ensured compliance with both accounting and members requirements. Completed the Intermediate Command and Staff Course (Maritime) at the Joint Services Command and Staff College Shrivenham at post graduate level. -
