I design and execute experiments to characterize a novel genetic animal model of Alzheimer’s Disease. Prepare tissue for, and perform immunohistochemical staining, image using confocal microscopy, and analyze large image data sets.

As a doctoral candidate in the Neuroscience Graduate Program, I worked in a laboratory in the Mitchell Center for Neurodegenterative Diseases, studying Alzheimer's disease (AD). Specifically, my research investigated a unique AD phenotype, other in situ tissues, via immunohistochemistry, microscopy and qPCR techniques.

As a student I completed course-work in cell biology, molecular biology, teaching, the neurobiology of disease, and had hands-on training in imaging and light-based sensing techniques. My hands-on experience include spectrophotometry, confocal microscopy, multi-photon microscopy, optical coherence tomography, and dealing with and analyzing data from these systems, including volumetric data sets.
