As a freelancer currently, my main focus is designing databases and/or writing data-driven apps for small businesses. This can include anything from simple spreadsheets to large systems with Access front-ends and SQL Server back-ends. I've written apps for address books, client-mentor management, invoicing and more using tools such as SQL Server, Microsoft Access and Excel, Visual Basic and VBA, including designing and normalizing relational databases, and programming with SQL, queries, forms, macros and reports.

I taught Statistics, Data Analysis, Calculus and Developmental Math at SCC Colville and other institutions going back to 2006. I'm most proud of the transferable skills I gained, such as communication, leadership & mentoring, project planning, management, teaching and training. Classroom technology included Microsoft Excel, OneNote, Access and SAS, and even writing algorithmic homework questions using scripting languages. Being responsible for planning my lessons and syllabus, lecture notes, and exams, all while completing committee work, professional development, grading and answering student emails gives me the ability to multitask and demonstrate the ability to work independently with little or no supervision, managing my time and priorities.

Our team developed the company’s line of parking systems software, mainly using Visual Basic & SQL Server. I also assisted our QA Manager in stress testing of software, which means running many copies at once, trying to crash the software and the computers they're running on, in order to find weaknesses and optimize the code.

Elity Systems was a company specializing in shopping cart software and personalization. It's a technology which is very common today. "Customers who bought this were also interested in..." It was cutting edge in the early 2000s and I was glad to be on such a pioneering team so soon after college. In my own position, I developed software tools using XML, Visual Basic, and Active Server Pages, while testing and monitoring using our servers and network.In short, our main product was a turnkey system designed to increase the efficiency of vendor websites by establishing and exploiting customer buying patterns and personalizing their online cart experience in a continuous real-time decisioning system.
