David Bronkhorst is responsible for the operation of the prolific McArthur River Mine and the Key Lake Uranium Mill in Northern Saskatchewan, which together produced a world record of 20.1 million lbs in 2013. He is also responsible for technology development at Cameco and is the operating sponsor for all advanced exploration properties in Canada and Australia.David has been with Cameco since 2000. Prior to his current role, he held positions of increasing responsibility as mine manager and then general manager at two underground uranium mines in Saskatchewan. David has spent his entire career in operations, and has overseen the extraction of more than 250 M lbs of uranium while maintaining a strong safety performance.Prior to joining Cameo, David was area mine superintendent at the largest underground gold mine in Canada, producing over 500,000 oz/year. David graduated from Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada in 1981, and spent his first six years after graduation in base metals mining, where he gained his professional engineering status and developed extensive experience in ground control, drilling and blasting methods.
