Has expertise in all aspects of Sports Development and Management. Specialises in community sport development including club, coach and volunteer development with vast experience of capital and revenue projects including grant applications and management. Worked on Calderdale's successful bid to be one of Sport England's Local Delivery Pilots. Has expert knowledge in developing strategies and plans for sport and physical activity as well as building partnerships with all stakeholders in sport including Sport England, county sports partnerships, national governing bodies of sport, school sport networks and the voluntary sector. Has developed Calderdale's last two Playing Pitch Strategies. Led on the Rugby League World Cup 2013 game for Calderdale between Tonga and Italy, chairing the consortium that saw the Shay reach its capacity crowd of over 10000 people (the biggest crowd for over 30 years). Was part of the Calderdale Tour De France Working Group and managed the first ever volunteer programme for the race within Calderdale. Was also a Bronze Command Locality Lead for a stage of the race. Manages Todmorden Sports Centre and has previous experience of commissioning for health and physical activity having managed the successful Upbeat health referral scheme. Also has expert knowledge of Community Asset Transfers having worked on a variety of such projects. Is an excellent leader that gets the most out of the people around him. This was never more evident when leading Calderdale Sports Development to an award for the biggest ever improvement score from external assessors Quest.
