Berkshire Middle School

I teach three 6th grade Math Lab courses, and two 8th grade Pre-Algebra courses at Berkshire Middle School. My goal is to get children to think logically and critically about problems in the world, as well as developing self-efficacy in the mathematical field.

Camp Phoenix - Detroit, Mi

I taught Math to 4th-7th graders at Camp Phoenix, which is a part of Detroit Leadership Academy located in Detroit, Michigan. During this time, my instructional approach focused on Project-Based Learning. Students created several projects to demonstrate their understanding of the math learning objectives they were given for the summer. Each of my students showed significant gains between their pre-assessments and post-assessments.

I was blessed with an opportunity to work with a group of at-risk children from ages 8-16 during the school year and throughout the summer. During the school year, I was a group leader for children. I lesson planned, directed activities, and tutored math and reading during this time. During the summer, I was a camp counselor for our summer camp. I had the same responsibilities, but I had the opportunity to spend the entire day with the children I worked with. This job was easily one of the most valuable experiences I have had in my life.
