Mainly focused on the 2020 Sulphur cap and the Ship Implementation Plan for the Group fleet across the globe. This project was managed out of Glasgow with operations were in India, I was tasked with ensuring all vessels will be compliant for the new sulphur cap, in 2020. This included reviewing vessels current technical configuration, creating the risk assessment, ensuring the appropriate training for crew and staff was in place and ensuring there was a high quality product.

As a Global Graduate it is my responsibility to experience as much of V.Group as possible. This includes going to various offices and experiencing what different business units offer our clients. During my time I was able to spend time in Chennai (India), Singapore, Manila, Aberdeen and Monaco. These offices gave me exposure to our Technical Analysis and Compliance Team, Ship Management (Technical Fleet Cells, HSEQ and Crewing), Offshore and New Build Cable Layer Project.

During the summer of 2015 I spent 12 weeks within the project team looking to change the layout of the dock, within Devonport Naval Base. My involvement with this project was to become the point of contact for the sub-contractor to Babcock expressing any concerns or issues with the project. As well as being the main point of contact for the subcontractor I would also be involved with various projects around the dock. These would include: • Access routes to the site• Capstan, fairlead and bollard layout for the new dock layout • Cost benefit analysis of the penstocks• Handover the new camber deck to stakeholderThis placement required a lot of coordinating with various clients, personnel and contactors throughout the placement. Working to tight timescales and managing time was crucial throughout the placement to ensure as little delay and interference as possible.

As a part time job during my university studies I was able to go from Cashier to Assistant Manager with a couple of years. As an assistant manager I was a registered key keeper, and was responsible for both opening and closing the shop when on duty. I would have to manage a colleague and deal with customer services. In a managerial position I was responsible for customer satisfaction and would have to deal with any customer complaints and motivate the team to reach the shop targets. Dealing with face-to-face customer issues allowed me to develop clear communication, keeping a level head and keeping control of a situation. Working within the bookmakers I was trusted to work with high volumes of cash and perform under strict time constraints in a pressured environment.

During my time within the Welding and NDT department , I was given the opportunity to shadow both the NDT Engineers and the Quality Assurance/Quality Compliance Engineers to understanding the different NDT techniques, practical application of the NDT and the quality control of the welding being carried out within the dockyard. My time in the welding department was focused on creating a new electrical inventory system for both the welding and NDT Equipment, this would consist of using bar codes to track which equipment was being used at what locations around the dockyard. I also carried out a feasibility study regarding automated welding within the dockyard, this included researching different automated welding systems and inviting one company to demonstrate their production to the potential future users. After the proposal was put forward a number of the systems demonstrated were purchased. Another task that I was asked to investigate was to design a training inspection stand for a tubular casing that could rotate the test casing and have the ability to be mobile around the department for training.During my time in the placement I was able to attend various courses such as Manual Handling, Fire Safety and a Visual Welding Inspection course.
