This opportunity is a blessing and has led to many challenging experiences. My team works at the tip of the spear, responding with precision to any disruptive event. Usually, this means Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, for which the bad guys provide us plenty of exercise. But we also get our hands dirty in the credential stuffing space as well as keeping our eyes on anything suspicious that moves inside and out of the Bank of America network. We're the subject matter experts for troubleshooting any network event, security related or not, and our lines of business depend on us to be available 24/7 anytime anything is out of the ordinary. It's hard sometimes to comprehend the way a challenging role can change you. I've had to explore the personal side of technical work in a way I have never been ready for. What kind of team, what kind of culture did I want to be a part of? How would I be able to instill those values to an already accomplished group of professionals? Learning the answers to these questions has profoundly changed me. I am also very fortunate that the information security leaders at Bank of America provided me the opportunity and the support to grow and make necessary mistakes.
