David Busch is a Indigenous Co-op and Career Coordinator at University of Victoria. Colleagues describe him as "As a member of our International, Indigenous & Accessibility (IIA) team at UVic Co-op & Career, David manages the Indigenous Co-op and Career portfolio, supporting Indigenous students at UVic through their co-op and career journey. David is committed to enabling Indigenous students to find culturally relevant and meaningful opportunities through work integrated learning. He also inspires and helps build capacity among all Co-op & Career staff to engage meaningfully with Indigenous students and employers wishing to hire them. In his work, David collaborates extensively with UVic’s Office of Indigenous Community Engagement. These joint efforts enable us at Co-op & Career to respond meaningfully to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. It is a matter of great pride for me that our IIA team was recently awarded CEWIL Canada’s prestigious Albert S. Barber Award for outstanding contributions to the advancement of the philosophy and practice of Co-operative Education in Canada.
