As a finance leader in the largest Media Advertising Agency in the world, I played a pivotal role during the challenges of Covid, leading the creation of a Net Sales weekly tracker for our portfolio, G&A cost savings and restructuring costs. Managing a team that grew from 6 to 9, I guided transitions to IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 for all OpCos, demonstrating expertise in accounting standards. In my role as the second in command in the finance team aligned with the Regional CFO, I steered priorities for 70 operating companies, integrated major groups, analysed financial performance at macro and micro levels, and directed team development plans. My responsibilities included liaising with the parent company in London and New York on various matters, direct involvement in financial presentations to WPP senior management, and active participation in M&A integrations. Managing SOx compliance and leading the implementation of a new regional audit framework in 2020 showcased my strategic financial leadership. I was hired on a contract basis to complete the year-end audit and 16 sets of financial statements. After the audit, my contract was extended to cover the finance manager’s month-end responsibilities. I impressed management with my skills and performance and was offered a permanent position. I also designed and documented the internal control environment after the Netsuite implementation.

As a finance leader in a billion-dollar turnover company, I spearheaded the creation of a Google web-based reconciliation system, saving a day per employee in month-end reconciliations. Additionally, I led the Holcim Accounting and Reporting Principals Team in Australia, ensuring adherence to management accounting principles while implementing strategic process improvements.

Returning to EY Brisbane after working with PwC in the US, I rejoined as an Assistant Manager for the Holcim Australia audit, showcasing exceptional performance. Achieving early promotions, I developed an audit model in Brisbane for streamlined procedures, improving overall efficiency. As an Assistant Manager, I led assurance on external audit engagements, reported directly to partners, conducted performance reviews, and provided on-the-job coaching to large teams.
