Primary duties include: Create an Annual Budget for the water district and monitor spending to ensure effective stewardship of resources. Manage all water sampling needed to comply with State of Kansas regulations through monthly water samples and new construction sampling. Supervise contractors hired by the district.Generate and update a GIS map of the water district’s main lines, meters, fire hydrants, wells, and storage tanks. Communicate and negotiate with nearby utility systems. Engage in conversations to seek positive outcomes for customer service issues.Monitor and operate the district's SCADA system. Direct installation of new service taps and inspection. Supervise installation, maintenance, and repair of water meters, fire hydrants and in line valves. Operate and maintain water main line, groundwater wells and a pump station. Figure chemical dosage for treatment processes. As the General Manager for Leavenworth County, Kansas my accomplishments include the creation of a system-wide GIS map and a water line replacement strategic plan, including replacement of several miles of substandard water line. Under my leadership the city reduced overall system water loss, converted the district from a purchasing water system to a self-supplying system, and transitioned from direct read water meters to a radio read water meter system. Through careful resource management, the district’s budget can now finance all planned capital projects with no need for loans.
