In August 2005, with my partners Stuart Hendry and Sandy Finlayson, we formed MBM Commercial LLP to acquire the commercial business of Murray Beith Murray. I was Managing Partner of MBM, and Head of Litigation from 2005 until 2012

At that time, Murray Beith Murray was a full service law firm, providing legal services to businesses and individuals all over the UK. Initially I was employed as an Associate in their Litigation Group, being made a partner and Head of Litigation in 2003. In 2005, with 3 others, I lead a management buy out of the commercial part of Murray Beith Murray’s business, and formed MBM Commercial LLP.

Working with the New Zealand Law Commission, in Wellington, helping codify their Law of Evidence. I left in 1997 and my wife and I spent 1998 travelling back to Scotland.

I trained at Burness (of W& J Burness WS, as it then was) and worked for them for 3 years as a solicitor, specialising in commercial litigation. I left in 1994 to work in New Zealand. I worked for them again briefly during 1999, when I returned from New Zealand, and before accepting a position at Murray Beith Murray.
