Director, Special Education Related Service Supports
CurrentManages a community-based educational program for around 160 young adults with moderate to severe disabilities aged 18-22 with thirteen teachers and thirty-five support staff team members. Manages and supports a Transition Skills program that provides services to students across the spectrum of need and disability in all middle and high schools across the District. Identifies, coordinates, systematizes, and implements plans for Professional Development for all team members and additional District teachers and support staff. Identifies, implements, and systematizes processes to increase student learning opportunities and team efficiency across programs. Evaluates effectiveness of instructional plans and practices and provides resources and opportunities for educators to adjust and align their instructional choices with best practices. Makes placement decisions for current and in-coming students, manages data systems for various processes vital to the running of both programs. Collaborates with District partners, community organizations, additional service providers, as well as students, parents, families, and support networks to identify and provide educational opportunities for students. Manages grants in partnership with the Department of Rehabilitation and California Department of Education. Coordinates with the legal department, Board of Education, other SPED Coordinators, and school-site administrators to ensure that appropriate procedures, policies, and timelines are and have been followed.
