David Carlson Email and Phone Number
I lead Disability Rights Montana’s work to advance the civil and human rights of people with disabilities by transforming oppressive and harmful systems. We leverage our federal access authority, as the designated Protection and Advocacy system for Montana, to monitor facilities and community settings, investigate potential abuse and neglect, issue public reports and videos, engage in both traditional and social media advocacy, conduct systemic legal and policy advocacy, and provide Montanans with disabilities information about their legal rights and support in being better self-advocates.I also have two decades of complex litigation experience I have served as lead counsel in over two dozen class actions and other systemic advocacy efforts enforcing a wide variety of civil rights of people with disabilities, and have appeared as second chair or otherwise supported countless additional systemic cases. My advocacy work has been recognized in international media and by several local and national awards. I present on disability legal issues, legal ethics, and advocacy skills around the country.
