Working as part of the Timber Design Society team to keep designers on top of what is happening in timber engineering in New Zealand and across the globe!

Research and testing on a variety of building systems used in New Zealand and Australia.

• Assisted with development of post-tensioned timber building systems in collaboration with industries (manufacturers), builders and building designers • Responsible for supervision of timber research being conducted for ME, MEFE and Ph. D. programs• Promotion of the use of timber structures in New Zealand through continuing education of practicing engineers and architects • Provided lecturing and tutoring for structural and timber design courses (ENCN 213: Design Studio I and ENCI 499: Timber Engineering)• Provided assistance in the Structures Laboratory to post-graduate students with setting up and conducting testing on a variety of timber engineering projects including full-scale beam and column testing, fire and elevated temperature testing of components and structural systems and shake table testing of scaled timber structures.• Developed testing programs and conducting experiments on a variety of timber and timber based products and systems, but also including different materials for structural and non-structural building applications. Testing included mechanical property evaluations for various New Zealand timber species, screwed connections in laminated veneer lumber for use in post-tensioned and other timber structures, energy dissipating devices for seismic loading, and foam and plastic testing for piping and tank applications.
