Training to be an onsite setting out civil engineer. Role was very demanding both mentally and physically. Responsibilities involved setting out new groundwork's and surveying existing ones. For the first 2 years I worked closely with an engineer learning the role and its equipment (alongside a day a week in collage) and for the final year I was the engineer of a site in Leeds. This role enhanced/improved my understanding of advanced mathematics as well as a providing me with time management, and general organisational skills. There is also a large amount of problem solving required to be a civil engineer and I believe that my logical approach to problems was strengthen by this role. During my final months with K. Rouse I was left in charge of the Building site and had to deal with all aspects of site management. This included the ordering of materials needed, man and resource management and various admin work. During my time as an engineer I gained a qualification in Civil Engineering which is a BTEC National Diploma in Civil Engineering at a pass/merit level.
