Technical lead and project team leader for development of the firmware packages for two embedded systems for the Equinox Apollo credit card payment processing terminals. One system was based on a Broadcom ARM processor running a highly customized, secure embedded Linux kernel. Our job included creating kernel mode drivers for managing security and anti-hacking countermeasures, interfacing with the hardware, the color LCD display, touchscreen, thermal printer, magnetic swipe reader, NFC "contactless" communications, stacks for USB, ethernet TCP/IP, 802.11 Wi-Fi, and bluetooth. The other embedded system was based on a Freescale Kinetis K20 I running the MQX RTOS with a thermal printer and a USB device interface to the other system.

Continued development of the two firmware systems that were started at Flextronics. Equinox invited me to join their platform group at their headquarters in Scottsdale, through the end of 2013. Led C programming efforts on the Kinetis-based embedded system, using CodeWarrior and the Freescale MQX RTOS, along with driver-level integration with the Broadcom ARM-based system running embedded Linux. Created regular releases for distribution to the other engineering teams that built their software using the API's and drivers that our team created, bringing the hardware and software together for final certification and manufacturing. Other development tools included agile productivity applications such as Jira, Confluence and Crucible, Subversion version control, Jenkins automated build server, and Coverity code analysis.

Technical lead for scanner firmware R&D. Responsible for development of control firmware for all the flatbed and document feeder scanners on laser printers and all-in-one printers and copiers. All firmware was developed in C++ for embedded Linux on ARM processors. Also represented our team in meetings with other groups working on different aspects of new laser printer models. Led the design specification efforts for a new microcontroller/firmware solution to replace am aging ASIC for motor control and high speed I/O processing that would offer better noise immunity and lower cost.

Senior Electrical Engineer designing Freescale-based (ColdFire and Kinetis) reference designs for single board computers and embedded systems for the OEM fire control systems industry, specifically around the Apollo line of networked, ultra low power industrial fire detection heads and accessories. Firmware was created in C using the CodeWarrior compiler tools. Everything had to be UL listed and pass stringent safety and durability testing, as well as meet numerous international standards for EMEA.
