About David Cecil

Most recently I've been designing, developing, testing and documenting embedded code to support CoAP and CBOR on battery and continuously powered IoT devices.I've managed a local team of 15 developing a security SaaS product. This involves software release management using the Agile (Scrumban) process.Over the last 10 or so years, my focus has been the development of security software on Linux and AIX platforms, primarily using C/C++.Experience at Nokia included Linux 2.4 and 2.6 kernels, networking. FreeBSD 6.x block I/O, filesystems, and other miscellaneous work, primarily within the kernel. I have SMP experience on both platforms.I enjoy working within an environment where I can design and implement new features as part of a team. I have also been the site manager of the Australian office. In the future I would like to take on a larger team leadership role, but I'd like to have the time to continue some technical work (design/coding/testing/documentation).Specialties: UNIX kernels, C code, networking, block I/O.

Recent work has been within the FreeBSD 6.x kernel relating to block I/O and filesystems and the Nokia-supplied network stack, but the job requires that I be prepared to fix anything that's broken. Within the FreeBSD 6.x environment, all code must be SMP-safe.
