About David Chaika Jr.

I grew up in Mount Laurel, just a stones throw away from Philly. I’m extremely active and have a hard time just sitting around. I usually spend my free time rock climbing, kayaking, camping, snowboarding, and exploring the NJ Pine Barrens on a dirt bike. My wife and I just welcomed a baby boy into our lives, which means I’ll be buying a tiny dirt bike in the future. I’m also a big Philadelphia sports fan and try to make an away eagle’s game with my wife once a year. I’m big into physical fitness and love to run. I ran the Philadelphia Marathon in 2017 and am wondering when I’ll get the bug to do it again. I love to travel, both around the U.S. and abroad. Countries I’ve visited on vacation and with work: Canada, Botswana, Bahrain, Czech Republic, Kuwait, Iraq, Germany, Qatar, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Jordan, Mexico, Saint Lucia, and the United Kingdom. I am full time with the NJ Army National Guard, working in operations and training, overseeing 22 active-duty military personnel. My job is managing the training, readiness, and current operations of the 44th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, which is made up of over 2,500 citizen Soldiers. I love my job and am extremely fortunate to be a part of a great team with some amazing people. I have deployed to Southwest Asia 3 times and have been lucky enough to attend some of the best leadership courses offered by the U.S. Military.I’m a big believer in being a team player. A rising tide lifts all ships. If someone needs help or is struggling, give them a hand. Chances are, you’ll need help at some point, in some shape or form. It’s better to have a network of people willing to help you, all working towards a common goal. Make the organization better.
