As a material handler at FedEx, my responsibilities are to first and foremost ensure the delivery of packages entrusted to the company in a safe and secure manner by:- Securely stacking packages in the correct shipping containers- Ensuring all packages are being scanned and loaded into shipping containers with the correct shipping ID and region- Safely moving shipping containers to and from weight scales onto rolling carts to be transported to their destination within the hub- Driving Tug transporters in a safe and efficient manner while transporting strings of shipping containers from the workstation out to the runways to be loaded into aircraft- Taking responsibility for all paperwork and shipping seals pertaining to all flights and routes transported and ensuring all paperwork is received by proper authorities - Making executive decisions while navigating around the facility and improvising while working with the flow of shipping schedules

While working and being trained by Paul Haste, owner of Haste Woodcraft, I further expanded my knowledge and skill set of fabricating cabinets and counter tops. I also became more acquainted with the installation side of the business and working on a multitude of different construction sites, varying from residential to brand new businesses. My duties as a cabinet apprentice included:- Learning and absorbing as much as possible about the constructive side of the business- Learning to fabricate and install cabinets in an efficient and professional manner- Using tools and machines safely and proficiently, which include various hand tools, table and miter saws, wide mouth sanders, routers, planers, jointers, edge banding machines, coping and shaping machines, pressure pots and sprayers, etc. - Staining and finishing products- Working with a small team of carpenters- Running errands for employer such as picking up materials and taking shipping orders at the workshop

My introduction to the field of woodworking was apprenticing under Ron Deckard at Cornerstone Cabinets. I began working for Ron part-time during my summer vacations while attending high school from 2009 to 2012. After graduating, I worked for him sporadically in 2013 until I was hired full time in 2014. He helped me hone in my skills as a carpenter and taught me valuable lessons in the business, which included:- Using the tools required to make cabinets and other woodworking related projects- Understanding written plans and becoming acquainted with the mathematics and dimensions of making and installing cabinets- Guiding me in every step of fabricating cabinets, from ripping parts on the table saw and building doors and frames, to following plans to assemble cabinets and finish and top coat them - How to interact with customers in a friendly and professional way to maintain business relations and long term customers
