Architect automated knowledge reuse process to inventory and tie together business semantic metadata (e.g. terminologies, information models, reference domains) and technical metadata (e.g, data catalogs and profiles, systems, applications, reference data). Establish foundation for high value metadata services including the Enterprise Data Dictionary, metadata-driven integration, impact analysis, dependency analysis, and reference data management. Long-term consultant with Enterprise Content Management practices to bring together structured and unstructured information. Early stage of SAS Text Analytics proof-of-concept to index document information and tie to structured data through the Common Vocabulary managed in the Metadata System. This brings together multiple communities of interest through Information Stewardship.Responsible for the Enterprise Information Model and the conceptual harmonization across model silos and practices. Established enterprise practices, responsibilities, and model harmonization processes across different modeling disciplines. The Enterprise Information Model became the semantic basis of ontology / semantic models, data models, UML class models, and XML Schema, RDF Schema, and Owl data exchange models used to understand and enable our business.

Established the Enterprise Information Model consolidating industry and corporate models. I established the initial application-to-information CRUD matrix which helped sell the need for managing information at the enterprise level. I crafted key information/data patterns and facilitated and wrote the Enterprise Warehouse Strategy, the Persistence Strategy, and Metadata Strategy. I was one of the actors in the startup of the Enterprise Architecture Program. As it matured and moved into implementation of the Architecture Assurance process conducted architecture reviews of corporate projects. Internal architecture consulting on Enterprise Content Management, Collaboration, and Enterprise Data Warehousing for business units.

Provided information and data architecture services to, at the time, SAS's largest client. Activities included information analysis, data modeling for a dimensional data warehouse with a few core fact tables categorized by several dimensions. The work involved understanding the data and information well through interaction with Data Flux profiling, SAS profiling, business interviews, requirements clarification, and establishing a well defined communication mechanism between the team and the client. I helped establish an interesting data quality subject area to manage and track daily data quality issues. The work involved interacting with a wide mix of client groups including facilitating conceptual models from groups of high end economists and econometricians. Raising data oriented experts to the information and knowledge level.

Acted as Corporate Data Warehouse architect which included logical and physical data modeling for the warehouse and large project modeling such as the initial implementation of an Inbound Claims Repository to support HIPAA requirements of the EDI 4010 standard. Actor in evaluation and migration data warehouse platforms from Oracle to Teradata. Defined, designed, and implemented tactical queries against the data warehouse enabling real time web based insurance application approvals or rerouting for further underwriting. Train and mentor staff to use Teradata effectively for analytics. Created key guidance documents such as the Reference Code Standards and Procedures.

Migrated business analysts from a local SAS based analytics data warehouse to the new Corporate Data Warehouse. This involved training, mentoring, and convincing high end, skilled analysts that a central data warehouse would provide consistent, integrated data and significantly reduce their data preparation time and allow them to focus on analytics. All without giving up their SAS tools. I also trained them on the use of Business Objects for lower end reporting as another tool in their tool set. As a result of this effort, the users migrated and have become (as of 2012) the high end internal consultants, analysts, and managers of the company. I was key to convincing them to transition from their current analytics environment to the CDW by showing them how to use it with their tools, helping them gain trust in the data, and how it provided additional capabilities to do their analysis. I became a business advocate within the CDW to make sure the technologists addressed their analytic needs.

Administrated the Opteamasoft development and test database platform as well as testing and production platforms at client sites.
