Senior BA on the eCommerce team, initially responsible for specifying the Payment requirements for the new Wealth Online Banking system and supporting its implementation. Subsequently responsible for gathering requirements and functional / change specifications for a wide variety of enhancements to this and other eCommerce systems.

Worked on many projects - key projects and achievements during this period were:- Programme Managing the Private Banking Euro Programme.- Developing Y2K business continuity plans for the Swiss business.- Project Managing the implementation of an FX Margin Trading system in London.- Leading the data migration workstream for the migration of the Woolwich Guernsey and four FINCO businesses off legacy systems to the Bank's strategic platform.- Technology workstream lead for change of legal entity for the UK Private Bank.- Payments workstream lead for the migration of the Gibraltar and Cyprus businesses off their legacy systems to the Bank's strategic platform.

The aim of the project was to implement a standard systems infrastructure in overseas sites of the Bank. My particular responsibilities were for the SWIFT supported NOSTRO reconciliation system and the ST400 automated telex and testkey system, known as TELEX/400. Specific responsibilities included managing the day-to-day relationship with the system vendors and technical support teams, maintaining budgetary controls, specifying system enhancements and interfaces, testing, defining and documenting user procedures, implementation planning, managing on-site implementations, and user training. I personally managed the on-site implementation of the NOSTRO system in 15 sites, and the TELEX/400 system in 2 sites.

BGBS was a major project to develop a new system to meet the future requirements of the Bank’s overseas sites. The development was managed by Logica and involved over 100 Logica and Barclays staff for much of the time. My responsibilities included the scoping, detailed requirements specification and design of interfaces to external information and delivery systems.

Responsible for carrying out feasibility studies, planning and supporting the cutover to SWIFT of overseas offices of Barclays, providing first-line support to them, testing and implementing new software releases and enhancements, writing and maintaining User Procedure Manuals and, for a period, maintaining and supporting the Bank’s UK SWIFT interface.Became Team Leader in 1985, responsible for the work of a team of 6, and also represented the Bank at various meetings and on working groups, including the SWIFT Technical Working Group and the SWIFT II Transition Working Group.

Responsible for the design and coding of COBOL programs and associated JCL, writing test plans, program testing, and the maintenance and support of existing programs within the Money Transfers area.

Worked in various domestic branches in and around Oxford. Responsibilities included cashiering, taking charges over security, and dealing directly with customers regarding stock exchange transactions and small loans and overdrafts. Communication skills, verbal and written, were developed during this period.
