Overall in charge for APAC controllership of GSK Consumer Healthcare with a business size of GBP2.2 billion. Areas Include Greater China, ANZ, Southeast Asia and Taiwan, Japan & Korea and India Subcontinent cluster. Currently based in KL, Malaysia

Malaysia

David is currently the R2R Team Lead for Australia, New Zealand and Thailand. In this role, he oversees the day to day Finance Services operations for the mentioned countries and the oversight of Genpact. Also, he has been on constant contact with key stakeholders such as senior FDs, FDs, Directors and Regional Finance Heads to align expectations and priorities as well as managing issues and escalations. He has implemented various initiatives to ensure quality reporting like the Unison Review Process and enhancement of the balance sheet recon quality. He is constantly developing his knowledge of the business and thinking of value added activities for stakeholders.Currently, he is also deeply involved in the Novartis deal in both ANZ, which is a share deal and is considered the most complex market in APAC for this deal as well as Thailand, which has its unique challenges as a highly regulated country and a delayed market. He was also previously involved in the CERPS migrations for the mentioned countries ensuring that the R2R space is migrated appropriately.He started the R2R Team Lead role in April 2014 handling Thailand and turned around the R2R services in 2 months gaining back the confidence of key stakeholders which enabled the TG4 Target Operating Model migration sign off for the said market after a long stabilization process.He took over the ANZ market in November 2014 and was able to turnaround the services in time for yearend reporting and was able to get good feedback from the Senior FD. He joined both ANZ and Thailand markets at their challenging times and both improvements/turnaround were achieved with the same set of resources.

Malaysia

Prior to becoming an R2R Team Lead, He had brief role as a Customer Relationship Manager, handling stakeholders concerns and being a stimulus to continuous improvement. He handled the role from January 2014 until Mid April 2014. In this role, he was liaising closely with stakeholders and ensuring the Voice of the Customer (VOC’s) as well as concerns of the BSCs are addressed. He was able to develop good relationship with different stakeholders from various countries.

Malaysia

In 2013, David did the CBS Finance Target Operating Model (TOM) migration to implement the TOM for the Asia Pacific markets as the Knowledge Transfer Lead. He was mainly in charge of knowledge transfer ensuring that the migration is effective and milestones are met. It was a big task of migrating 8 APAC markets in a span of one year. He had the responsibility of ensuring that new joiners are adequately trained and he also acts as the counselor to ensure that new joiners’ concerns are addressed and that they complete the tasks and stay with the company despite the aggressive deadlines. During his tenure all go-live dates were successfully met.

Malaysia

David joined GSK in August 2012 as a Senior R2R Accountant handling the entire financial reporting process for GSK Malaysia. This includes management reporting and statutory reporting responsibilities and also oversight of Genpact. He also had a short stint as an acting In-Country Shared Services (ICSS) Lead in 2012 for GSK Malaysia and was able to build a good relationship with the key stakeholders.

Philippines And Singapore

Prior to joining GSK, David is an Associate Director (Manager) in Ernst & Young Philippines with more than 6 years of experience in external audit and advisory services and his last stint in E&Y was as a consultant/resource for GSK Singapore. His significant experiences in advisory includes internal audits, SOX audits, compliance audits, controls assessment, risk remediation/advisory (including process reviews) and various agreed-upon engagements for multinational companies from various industries such as pharmaceutical, manufacturing, outsourcing/offshoring (BPO), consumer products, financial, technology and real estate as well as educational and non-profit organizations. He also has relevant experiences in fraud investigations.
