In this role my duties are to work on a global bearing exchange project, travelingacross the world working directly for customers of GE I am to liaise with thecustomer, shut down the generator using LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) then to ensurethe generator has no power being directed into it, then to strip down the drive endand non-drive end of the generator using various hand tools, acetylene torches and specialized ITH tools, then to carry out precise measurements of the rotor shaft to ensure no damage, carry out all relevant paperwork, then to build up the generatorusing induction heaters to heat up the new bearings. When the bearings have been replaced I then needed to carry out static electrical tests using a 5 mega-watt fluketo ensure the generator is fully insulated and to ensure all electric cables are presentand in the correct place, then to remove all LOTO mechanisms and start the generator up and run in stages to ensure it runs at correct speed and temperatures, then carry out any more relevant paperwork and to let the customer know that the work has been carried out correctly and ensure the customer is happy with the work performed.

During this time I had been working in the Middle East, in countries like Kuwait andQatar as a heavy equipment mechanic for the USA Military. My duties were to troubleshoot/repair fuel, cooling, brake, exhaust, suspension, drive train and hydraulic systems. Diagnostic repair of electrical components, wiring harnesses, and troubleshooting electrical systems utilizing technical schematics and publications. Perform all levels of maintenance of retrograded equipment, to carry out annual servicesand to perform duties such as a section lead during their absence. I worked on tracked tank and recovery vehicles and large heavy wheeled vehicles such as freight liners, recovery trucks, anti-mine and earth moving vehicles such as JCB, CASE, Caterpillar, Terex and Skytrak.

I spent three years working for Cummins and my duties were to assist in the building of mid-range diesel engines. I was then moved into testing engines to ensure that they started and run smoothly for the customers. I finally got moved into the QM/QA section where I had to repair and overhaul engines when everrequired to do so. I had to report all safety matters and carry out general housekeeping duties.

I spent three years working for Caterpillar and my duties were to assist in buildingcaterpillar tracks for a variety of vehicles. I also had to carry out mechanical dutiesat Caterpillar Peterlee when required to cover for holidays. I also ran and operated the paint plant, and operate an over head crane. I also had to carry out my work to a tolerance of 1 mm and to carry out house keeping duties.
