I am passionate about journalism, have held senior positions in the ABC and community radio, traveled extensively, have a deeply creative music making side and love my current role as a manager of a small team and a producer of a daily current affairs program at the ABC.During 2016 I was the Regional Planning Editor in the ABC's new Regional Division responsible for daily content and long term planning, a big role that involved high level strategic planning, day to day collaboration on national stories and project management. Check out some of those projects below.I started my career in community radio and spent a decade all up as a volunteer, announcer and later as a program coordinator. I developed a nationally recognised training course and am an accredited trainer of that course. I had two early forays into running my own business, first in training and then contracting to government agencies on how to use interactive television after doing a contract for the Community Skills Training Centre in Perth.I spent two and a half years in Central America as an Australian Volunteer and worked p/t there with the community movement, a couple of universities and the main community radio station. One of the most interesting contracts I had was in Azerbaijan working as an information officer with the International Red Cross. I enjoyed the political aspects of that job and felt that after 6 months I had achieved a lot for the local Azeri Red Crescent media team as part of a process to hand over the responsibilities of the delegation. I love story telling and I love the management side of my work. It's great having both things in my current role because I can stay in touch with my craft as a journalist while expanding into the role of managing people.
