Specializing in design of new homes, additions, and light commercial, projects have ranged in size from one-room additions to 5,000+ s.f. homes, with varying design styles. Historically sensitive projects are also a specialty. In addition to past experience with historic and adaptive-reuse projects, a recent project includes design of a new home in an historic district that had to meet stringent local historic review and approval. Additionally, Planning services are provided, including (but not limited to) site master planning, site feasibility planning, site selection, and grant preparation and management.

Assist contractors and DIY'ers with quantification and cost estimates of materials needed for projects. Has included complete material take-offs for new home construction, decks, re-roofing, and many unusual requests. Provide quotes for materials to contractors to support bids. Once ordered, coordinate delivery of materials. Also, maintain accounts of regular customers, managing change-orders, returns and exchanges of materials, and special orders for needed items. Special orders include such major items as truss packages requiring my design skills and knowledge. Understanding of design and construction are often useful to assist customers who know what end product they desire, but have no idea as to what is required to achieve it.

Developed & managed implementation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) projects and Redevelopment/Conservation Plans. Assisted localities, including Martinsville, VA., Pulaski, VA., and Stuart, VA., with grant projects to revitalize low-income neighborhoods and downtown districts. Understanding and compliance with HUD and other Federal regulations was mandatory. Familiarity with Title 36 of the Code of Virginia was required in preparing Redevelopment/Conservation Plans for the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority. Architectural and site design was included in duties, and coordination of multiple design disciplines was required, typically with consideration of distribution of funding from separate grant funding sources.

Architect for major home-builder in the Richmond, Virginia region. Developed designs for expanded selection for builder. Included design for expansion into million-dollar market. Responsible for management of production of customer ordered plans, and on-site resolution of construction issues. Maintained library of add-on options and "Custom" options for clients.

Associate Architect for firm specializing in and recognized for historic preservation and adaptive re-use projects. Responsibilities included forensic architecture, documenting past construction practices. Also, was firm specialist for as-built documentation for adaptive re-use projects, including prominent Richmond, Virginia landmarks including Miller & Rhoads and The Hotel John Marshall. Also, involved in out of the ground projects.

Prepared construction documents for this small architectural firm specializing in design of Worship facilities. Most prominent project was for a 2000+ facility that included consideration of structure for a balcony for future expansion. All projects were designed utilizing a predecessor to AutoCAD Revit, in full 3-D modeling, allowing coordination of design of complex steel structuring, mechanical systems, and overhead platforms for lighting and cameras.
