I am the principal developer of the patented Class-1 accuracy Intelligent Noise Monitor (INM). The monitoring system has played a significant role in numerous aspects of work carried out by 24 Acoustics:• Wind turbine noise: The monitor uses the IOA Reference Method algorithm and is able to detect amplitude modulation on wind farm sites in real-time.• Construction / demolition monitoring: The class-leading audio capability of the INM system has enabled expedient and accurate feedback on problematic noise sources during construction and demolition projects.• Noise Camera: I have led the development of the noise monitor to incorporate a camera system, which was first trialled successfully in Kensington in November 2020, leading to the purchase of systems by multiple London councils. The system is now being used by the UK Police, as well as being trialled in New York City.The work I undertake in relation to the INM system includes:• signal processing;• Python coding;• embedded systems;• development of custom electronics circuits;• web server management;• front-end and back-end web development;• hardware design and development.I am a member of the Institute of Acoustics Amplitude Modulation (AM) working group and played a significant role in developing the algorithm that became the IOA Reference Method for rating AM. I have a great deal of experience in analysing AM, including measuring and quantifying the effect of blade serrations on mitigating AM. I have extensive experience in detailed vibration modelling using the FINDWAVE package (a finite different time-domain modelling application) to assess the impact of vibration from underground railways on residential and commercial buildings.
