I am a Civil Engineer and Business Leader with over 35 years experience delivering innovative solutions in the consulting and construction industries. My focus these days is on people leadership, business strategy, operations, change management, project management, business development and client relationship management. Consulting is first and foremost a people business. I am passionate about unlocking the potential of people and am actively involved in mentoring, training and people development, as well as being active with student programs at both Monash and Melbourne Universities. My mission as a leader is to foster an inclusive and collaborative culture where people can thrive and do great things. The success of the people I lead is my success. I am strongly motivated to apply my skills for the betterment of the world, with the global climate crisis, and gender diversity in our industry being key areas of focus.As State Manager at SMEC I was responsible for 600+ staff delivering projects to clients throughout Victoria and Tasmania. In 2018 I was appointed a Company Secretary for SMEC Australia Pty Ltd and I was part of the Australian Executive Management team. I also represented SMEC on the Board of Consult Australia, having Chaired the CA State Committee throughout the Covid crisis of 2021 and 2022. I am also Chair of the Industry Advisory Committee for the Monash University School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. A confident public speaker I guest lecture at Monash University on a variety of topics including Project Management, Engineering Quality Systems, Safety and life-long learning and have spoken at numerous industry and public events, one of which was broadcast.

State Manager Vic/TasSmec Feb 2017 - Feb 2024Melbourne, AustraliaI initially joined SMEC as Executive Project Manager but was I was shortly after appointed as Regional Manager for Melbourne. This P&L role was responsible for the $55M pa Melbourne business comprising approximately 340 professionals, business financial performance, client relationship management and delivery of the regional strategy. Key achievements included the successful delivery of the 2017 operational plan and sustainably growing the business.SMEC restructured at the start of 2018 and I was appointed State Manager responsible for operations across Victoria and Tasmania. Reporting to the SMEC Australia CEO and part of the Australian Executive Management team, I was responsible for 600 staff delivering project solutions to clients in four offices across Victoria and Tasmania and accountable for the profitability of the $100M+ pa SMEC business at a state-wide level. In this role, I provided effective and visible leadership, externally and internally and worked with the State Leadership Team to grow the scale and profitability of operations in the State in line with SMEC’s Strategic & Business Plans and financial targets. I was also actively involved in project governance on several high-risk major projects. In 2018 I oversaw the relocation of the SMEC Melbourne business to new offices in Collins Street, as well as supporting moves for both the Traralgon and Geelong offices to new premises. In 2022 I guided the launch of the SMEC business into the Tasmanian market. I am particularly proud of the collegiate leadership culture I inculcated across the Vic/Tas region in my time as State Manager, with leaders providing help and support to each other both cross functionally and across the offices in the region. I also worked to significantly enhance SMECs brand and profile in the Vic/Tas market. -

Throughout my time at AECOM I was involved in delivering Project Management training, mentoring and staff skills development throughout AECOMs global business. In 2010 I co-authored "Managing AECOM Projects" (MAP) a Project Management training course which won an AECOM Excellence Award and has been adopted as AECOMs Project Management training offering globally and is a prerequisite to AECOM Project Manager Certification. I am also co-author of a course aimed at more senior staff called "MAP Contracts" which covers legal liability issues and the effective negotiation and management of Consulting Contracts.In 2014 my role was escalated to report to the ANZ COO, and in 2015 following the acquisition of URS, I took over responsibility for the AECOM ANZ Quality function, in addition to my other responsibilities. -

Involved in winning and delivering the Tullamarine Calder Interchange Alliance Project in 2005. Led the project teams that developed proposals for the grade seperation of Middleborough Road and Springvale Road. These proposals facilitated the eventual government approval and construction of these projects. -
