Research Chemist in the Renewable Product Technology Research Unit responsible for fundamental and applied research into the physical, chemical, and nutritional properties of plant-derived carbohydrates, proteins and oils, and for the development of new technologies for converting renewable agricultural materials into high value chemicals.Specific research responsibilities include inovating biocatalytic and thermochemical transformations of plant lipids and biomass and the determination of practical applications for these derivatized materials; initiating and coordinating collaborative research and development arrangements with industrial and academic partners, ARS scientists, and other federal and state agencies; leading new areas of research especially in investigations of transformations of plant lipids and biomass to value-added products.
