David Coon was elected leader of the Green Party of New Brunswick on September 21, 2012. Two years later he was elected as the MLA for Fredericton South. He was re-elected in 2018 and 2020. Under his leadership, the party increased its popular vote to 15% in the 2020 election with second place finishes in 16 ridings - the only party to grow its popular support in both francophone and anglophone regions of the province. The New Brunswick Greens currently hold three seats in the Legislative Assembly. A biologist by training, David Coon worked as an environmental educator, organizer, activist and manager for 33 years, 28 of those years with the Conservation Council of New Brunswick (CCNB).
