The Desktop Support Specialist will work among a team of desktop support professionals and help deskstaff to provide exceptional service to our College community in their use of technologies in teaching, learning, administration, and general use. Primary support is given on Windows and Macintosh operating systems, mobile devices, telecommunications (analog, digital, VoIP), and emerging technologies as they find relevance at the College. Superb customer service is the primary objective, achieved through both building strong working relationships across the campus and within the larger ITS department and maintaining current technical expertise in a constantly changing environment.

Route and/or escalate issues appropriately.  Concisely and effectively document issues in the tracking system.  Configure laptops and mobile devices for use on the WPI Network. Troubleshoot connectivity issues.  Provide installation and support services for WPI provided software.  Maintain currency with issues related to malware removal and prevention. Provide malware protection and recovery services.  Provide excellent customer service to all members of the WPI community.  Assist in the training, supervision, and evaluation of student staff.  Assist in the maintenance and/or development of public or internal web pages, knowledge-base articles, or other marketing/help materials.  Provide backup support for the local Information Commons to include laptop distribution, media sales and Print Center support. Collect associated remittance; accountable for Point of Sale transactions.  Other duties as required by supervisor.
