Carbon capture is a potential new business area for Infineum. The opportunity was identified via the Innovation group hackathon event, during which promising new business ideas were pitched to the c-suite and substantial backing was secured. As project CTO, I am responsible for the successful agile delivery of a new carbon capture solvent concept which addresses industry pain-points and reduces OPEX by 50%. The substantial investment is progressively de-risked by working closely with key industrial partners to test both the technical and commercial viability at all stages. This project is being run as a fully funded agile-hybrid startup with a ringfenced technical and commercial team.

Identifying and developing novel chemistry for lubricant and speciality chemicals applications. Internal and external crowdsourcing for information, partnerships and expertise. Technology scouting for new commercial and pre-commercial materials of interest to the business. Ideation and proof-of-concept testing for novel chemistry proposals. Oxidation and nitration control in extreme environments. Development of novel chemistry to deal with future challenges posed by lubricating and cooling ICE and EV based transport.

Responsible for promoting innovation within Infineum lubrication science group. Generating new ideas through internal and external crowdsourcing, adjacent industries and close collaborative projects with key industry players.

Engine oil lubricants formulation science, innovation and new component development. Fundamental understanding of the processes affecting oil degradation and identifying new intervention points. Current areas of interest include oxidation and nitro-oxidation, anti-oxidants and high temperature catalyst deactivation.

Technical expertise and project management provided directly to Infineum's fuels customers in the following business sectors; Global biodiesel focal point and acknowledged Infineum expert on FAME. Fuel borne catalyst technologies for the regeneration of diesel particulate filters for global OEM client. Field trial and operability project co-ordinator for biodiesel impact studies. Diesel fuel additive product recommendations and new premium additive package design for oil refineries in Spain and Portugal. Team focal point for lubricity product slate. Contribute to the formulation, development and deployment of next generation fuel additives. Co-ordinate, advise and consult with colleagues in Marketing, Sales, Development, Industrial Liaison, Procurement, Manufacturing and Supply to ensure successful technology transfer and realise key business objectives. Manage activities of laboratory based colleagues, mentoring and managing their development.

Develop new fuel borne catalyst formulations and dispersal chemistries for diesel fuel.Generate engine test data in real-time combustion dynamics using a model diesel engine.Generate technical marketing material to support product claims.

Motorcycles and Small Engines; Manage a team comprising two chemists and two engineers responsible for the development and testing of motorcycle and small engine (MCSE) catalytic converters.Travel to customers in Europe, India, China, and North America to present new technologies and provide technical support.Develop and implement effective new manufacturing processes for MCSE products.Write technical papers and present them at major international emissions conferences to increase the awareness of MCSE technologies in target countries.
