    David Crocker brings over 30 years of IT experience to Steel ORCA. Dave was the CEO and President of Octopus Technologies, which invented 1st generation cluster technology for Microsoft Windows NT. Octopus was awarded the patent on real time data mirroring in 1995 and became the first Windows NT-specific product to achieve Automatic Switch Over (ASO) from a failed system to another live backup system. Under Dave’s guidance, Octopus became the first company worldwide to be awarded certification by Microsoft for having developed products compatible with Windows NT.Dave has led the team at Steel ORCA since its inception in 2008. Under his guidance, Steel ORCA is building one of the largest data centers in the New York-New Jersey market located in Princeton, NJ. Dave’s design of the world’s first Digital Utility Center (DUC) has attracted world leaders that manufacture infrastructure, operations, and application solutions that provide energy, mechanical components, electrical management components and digital assets to the data center industry. Dave has coordinated these teams of manufacturers to work together to deliver digital throughput in a commoditized, asset transparent model. Concurrently Dave is Vice Chairman of the National Science Foundation, Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) for Energy Smart Systems (ES2). In this role, Dave’s leadership helps guide research and development of projects focused on finding energy smart solutions in the design and operation of data centers. The University of Binghamton, Villanova University, University of Texas at Arlington and Georgia Institute of Technology head the research teams.
