Metro Trains is the rail operator for metropolitan Melbourne:The business operates an extensive fleet of train sets on 837 kilometres of track servicing sixteen regular service train lines and one special events line. The train fleet travels over 30 million kilometres and provides more than 228 million customer boardings each year, over 14,000 services each week and carries over 415,000 passengers each weekday. The business is also responsible for some 215 railway stations I am responsible for the organisation's business continuity planning arrangements: Requiring the development of a framework that applies across the breadth and depth of the business, including network service continuity. The role requires the identification of critical business functions and restoration objectives in the event of disruptive activity, as well as the construction and maintenance of detailed plans across a broad spectrum of utility. The position also carries responsibilities in terms of the business's security and emergency management arrangements, providing strategic advice when required.

I manage a small team of professionals, responsible for developing a capability profile for the Department's extensive emergency management portfolio; identifying current capabilities as well as development needs. The role requires the conduct of capability audits and gap analyses to assist in the development of an holistic strategy for maintaining and enhancing emergency management proficiency across the Department.The team is also responsible for conducting and evaluating emergency management and security exercises conducted within the Department as well as across government and stakeholder organisations.The position offers emergency management and security advice to Department portfolio business units as well as agencies, such as Public Transport Victoria and Vic Roads. In addition, the team is called upon to assist in managing the Department's control agency responsibilities for marine pollution emergencies, consistent with legislative requirements and whole of government expectations. To this end I am a Level 3 Incident Controller and support the State Marine Pollution Controller.

I performed a multitude of duties over 23 years of service with the police, ranging from uniform patrol to experience as a detective and with a firearms team I spent the last eight years of service as an emergency management and counter terrorism specialist with the Force Specialist Operations Branch.
