I am a Professor of Psychology at Nottingham Trent University. I specialise in applied cognitive psychology, particularly in traffic and transport psychology. Research topics include visual search, attention, distraction, hazard perception, and many other driving-related research topics. I am also co-founder of Esitu Solutions, a spin out company dedicated to bringing hazard perception assessment and training to the fleet sector. Other current hats include the Chair of the Road User Behaviour Working Group for PACTS, and I am a member of the Research Development Unit at UKROEd with responsibility for NDORS course content.I was previously the Director of NITES (the Nottingham Integrated Transport and Environmental Simulation facility) and co-director of the Accident Research Unit, based within the School of Psychology at the University of Nottingham. I still maintain strong collaborative links with UoN.I undertake research and consultancy on behalf on government agencies, road safety charities and corporate clients.
