Salini Impregilio (ISG JV) – September 2014 to PresentRedline North, Doha Metro Project (€1.8bn) – Tunnel Construction ManagerClient – Qatar RailManaging construction of 23km of 6.170m internal diameter bored tunnel connecting nine stations of the Redline North section of the Doha Metro Project, utilising four 7.050m diameter EPB Herrenknecht TBM’s and associated follow on 23no cross passage (CP) construction and mechanical electrical plant (MEP) installation.Reporting to the Project Manager, duties include managing the construction of the tunnels, allocating resources, managing programme, guiding the teams with launch, driving and reception techniques of the boring machines and CP works. Minimising project construction risks through careful evaluation of construction methodologies.Managing interfaces with the station teams and other station contractors.As well as the tunnelling aspects, also managed the segment production factory, which saw production increase from 12 rings per day to over 45 rings per day; completing segment manufacture two months ahead of baseline programme.Leading by example, demonstrating a strong presence on site; encouraging the team and work force to put their own safety first, as well as maintaining high standards of safety, health, environment and quality throughout all aspects of the works.

Overseeing the construction of 20km of 3.0m ID expanded lined tunnel using a CAT full face TBM and construction of 12km of 4.0m ID bolted trapezoidal lined tunnel using a Herrenknecht EPB TBM. Two 4.0m diameter Spur tunnels, total of 1km, using an open faced TBM. Approximately 900m of SCL connection adits and chambers. Reporting to the Project Manager and Project Director, duties include managing the construction of the tunnels, allocating resources, managing programme, guiding the teams with launch, driving and reception techniques of the boring machines and SCL works. A key player relaying experience and lessons learned from a previous National Grid project into the construction team as well as the client. Minimising project construction risks through careful evaluation of construction methodologies.Appointed Subcontract Manager for manufacture of the open faced TBM to be used for the construction of the spur tunnels. Agreeing initial specification and overseeing manufacture to ensure machine delivered on time without the need for major modifications once on site. This was achieved through regular factory visits and liaison with UK manufacturer.Leading by example, demonstrating a strong presence on site; encourage the team and work force to put their own safety first, as well as maintaining high standards of safety, health, environment and quality throughout all aspects of the works. Introduced and implemented a ‘Risk Based Monitoring’ regime following a series of incidents across the project.
