Additional responsibilities include serving as fill in Chief Inspector for Civil and Tunneling operations in the absence of the project Chief Inspector, tracking site activities, preparing, and submitting Daily Activity Summaries to the Client. Estimating pay quantities for EOR directed mandatory pre-excavation drilling and grouting. Oversight of Inspectors for reservoir dredging and placement of MTBM lake tap landing pad and trash rack foundation. Fill in for Tunnel and Civil inspectors as needed and produce a time and motion study for the tunneling activities. Inspected a single microtunnel drive by an 8’ diameter MTS Slurry MTBM with the installation of 372 feet of 96-inch diameter steel casing pipe. The MTBM was launched from a horseshoe chamber reaction frame and tunneled under the Anderson Dam and tapped into the Anderson Reservoir.

Anderson Dam Tunnel Project, Morgan Hill, California, 9/21 – 10/22Job duties include supervision of 3 inspectors for the Anderson Dam Tunnel Project. ADT includes construction of a diversion system that includes a new low-level outlet tunnel,downstream diversion tunnel, 8-foot diameter lake tap, outlet structure, discharge channel, reopening of the original Coyote Creek channel (northern channel) downstream of the existing dam Road. The outlet structure includes valves to control flow through the tunnels, and energy dissipation chambers to reduce the erosive power of the diverted flows before reentering Coyote Creek. Construction of the outlet structure and discharge channel requires relocation of approximately 500 feet of the Anderson Force Main (AFM). Job duties include inspection and coordinating 3rd party QA testing during construction of temporary haul roads and Diversion Outlet Portal soil nail wall with reinforced shotcrete and the tunnel portal with steel sets and shotcrete liner.

Job duties included tunnel inspection for the Gravity Pipeline tunnel project. The project is a component of SVCW’s Regional Environmental Sewer Conveyance Upgrade (RESCU) program, which includes a series of projects to improve the reliability of SVCW’s wastewater conveyance system servicing the cities of Belmont, Redwood City, San Carlos, and the West Bay Sanitary District. The GP comprises a 17,400 LF, 16.25’, diameter tunnel with 10-inch-thick precast concrete segmental lining driven by an EPB TBM with up to 2.5 bar, with an internal 11-foot-diameter fiberglass-reinforced polymer mortar pipeline (FRPM) extending from Inner Bair Island south of the San Carlos Airport to SVCW’s wastewater treatment plant located at the eastern edge of Redwood City, California. Job duties included inspection of EPB tunneling methods and precast concrete liner installations, construction of slurry wall and sheet pile shafts and construction of Starter galleries for TBM launch using NATM tunneling methods. Additional responsibilities included monitoring installation of 11’ diameter fiberglass-reinforced polymer mortar pipe and tie ins, Low Density Cellular Concrete placement and surface structures.

Job duties include civil inspection for various projects throughout the Peninsula. Clients included Silicon Valley Clean Water, Cal Water, and the city of Belmont. Projects included replacement of sanitary sewer and water lines using pipe bursting, pipe reaming, cut and cover, and HDD methods. Provided inspection services for Construction of 2 new reinforced concrete storage tanks and a large reinforced concrete underground reservoir with shotcrete and soil nail support of excavation.

Job duties included civil inspection for the Rinconada Water Treatment Plant Reliability Improvement Project. This project consists of upgrading existing Water Treatment facilities in phases through scheduled shutdowns in order to allow minimal disruption of Water Treatment Plant Operations throughout the duration of the project for the Santa Clara Valley Water District. Responsibilities include inspection of excavation, shoring, and installation of pipelines, inspection of formwork, reinforcement, and concrete placements for structures, and demolition of existing structures. Additional responsibilities include assisting Plant Operations with coordination of construction during plant shutdowns.

Job duties included micro tunnel inspection for the Schwerin Street Sewer System Improvement Project. This project consists of approximately 600 LF of a 5’ diameter tunnel for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. Responsible for inspection of Slurry Pressure balance MTBM mining methods with installation of 60” fiber glass reinforced pipe. Additional responsibilities included monitoring excavation of MTBM reception shaft

Bay Tunnel Project

Job duties include tunnel inspection for the Bay tunnel project. This project consists of approximately 26,000 LF of a 15’ diameter tunnel for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. Responsible for inspection of Earth Pressure balance TBM mining methods with up to approximately 3.5 bar of both water and soil pressures, bolted and gasketed temporary liner installation, and annular grouting. Additional responsibilities included monitoring shaft excavation, installation of 108" diameter final liner steel pipe, Low Density Cellular Concrete placement, field applied cement mortar lining, and surface tie ins and structures

Portland, Oregon Area

Job duties included tunnel inspection for the Portland Eastside CSO project. This project consists of approximately 28,000 LF of a 25’ diameter tunnel for the City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services. Responsible for inspection of Mixshield TBM mining methods with up to approximately 3.5 bar of both water and soil pressure on the South drive portion of the tunnel, bolted and gasketed final liner installation, and annular grouting. Additional responsibilities included monitoring TBM removal from the North Drive break in Shaft and major overhaul prior to the mining the South Drive portion of the tunnel

Additional responsibilities include monitoring rock bolt installation and pull tests, shotcrete liner installation, Bolted liner installation, and annular grouting

San Bernardino, Ca

Job duties included tunnel inspection and geologic mapping for Arrowhead Tunnels project. This project consisted of approximately 50,350 LF of an approximate 18’ diameter tunnel. Responsibilities included inspection of pre-cast concrete bolt and gasket segment liner installation, annular grouting, and monitoring mining operations. Additional duties included geologic mapping of the rock face and monitoring owner directed pre-excavation drilling and grouting operations with cement, polyurethane, and sodium silicate grout.

San Diego, Ca

Job duties included geotechnical instrumentation and tunnel inspection for San Diego Metropolitan Transit Development Board. This project consisted of a 5.8-mile extension of San Diego’s light rail transit system. Responsible for instrumentation monitoring for approximately 1,000 linear feet of an approximate 36-foot wide by 30-foot tall tunnel section using New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) at San Diego State University. Responsibilities included review of daily tunnel convergence monitoring point readings, inclinometer and extensometer readings, surface settlement pin readings, piezometer readings, and geologic mapping. Additional responsibilities included creating a centerline “as built” geologic profile for the entire tunnel, logging and grading shotcrete core samples, and estimating monthly pay quantities for the tunnel bid items

Job duties include field inspection and geologic mapping for the Riverside Badlands Tunnel Project, a 42,240 foot long, 16 foot diameter water tunnel Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. Responsible for geologic mapping, interpretation, and ground classification. Additional responsibilities included monitoring mining, compaction and chemical grouting operations, 12 foot diameter WSP installation, low density cellular concrete placement, contact grouting, cement mortar lining and finishing operations

San Bernardino, Ca

Job duties included field inspection and geologic mapping for the Arrowhead East Tunnel Project, a 33,000-foot long, 18-foot diameter water tunnel for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. Responsible for monitoring mining operations, tunnel boring machine maintenance, and drilling and grouting operations. Additional responsibilities included monitoring inclinometers, extensometers, strain gauges, tunnel boring machine line and grade survey, and “cages” electronic grouting recording equipment

Allentown, Pennsylvania Area

Job duties included construction – monitoring services for a future 45,000 square foot six story expansion wing for Lehigh Valley Hospital. The project involved ground improvement in Karst topography using compaction grouting as a means to densify surrounding soils and reduce the formation of sinkholes directly underneath the proposed new wing. Responsible for oversight of compaction grouting and drilling operations, maintaining field logs and writing daily field reports

San Francisco Bay Area

Field inspection and office engineering for the Richmond Transport Facilities including horizontal auger installed pipeline and cut and cover pipelines. Inspected construction of a large underground steel reinforced cast-in-place concrete deaeration chamber, drop shaft and 6.5 foot diameter pipeline connection from an existing six foot sewer to the 14 foot diameter tunnel. Inspected installations of fiberglass reinforced (HOBAS) slip line pipe and gunnite relining in an existing six-foot diameter sewer. Inspected installation of 1,000 linear feet of 18-inch pipeline and reinstallation of utility laterals for house connections. Inspected full reconstruction of streets and paving. Office Engineering included change order documentation and processing submittals. Also organized files for project closeout.
