I am an insurance professional with over 17 years of experience in the industry. Specialised in the handling of public and employer's liability claims. Equipped with a Psychology Honours degree, a diploma in Small Business Management, and the Chartered Insurance Institute's Certificate in Insurance, I have worked in broking, insurance management, as well as in a number of insurance companies. I strongly believe in life-long learning. Indeed, I have attended evening courses concerning criminology as well as the Maltese legal system. I have also obtained a certificate in Financial Planning from the Chartered Insurance Institute. My knowledge of several languages has helped me in my work and to build positive commercial relationships. I can communicate in Maltese, English, Italian, and Spanish. Am also currently learning German. Whenever I have held managerial or supervisory positions, I have been an assertive and target-oriented individual. I believe that all the members of a particular team need to take ownership of their work. Positive communication is essential. Have lived and worked in Malta, Spain, and in El Salvador for varying amounts of time. My life and work experience in other countries has helped me to appreciate other cultures. Being aware of a number of cultural differences helps during rapport-building and whilst trying to reach an agreement following a negotiation process. After many years handling different types of claims and training several employees on numerous claims-related operations, I am presently involved in compliance work.
