Senior Software Engineer V

Framingham, Massachusetts, Us

In Research and Advanced Development at Bose I build prototypes to prove out new technologies and resolve roadblocks before they become a problem for the development groups. I act as an evangelist for new ideas and build working experience prototypes to help demonstrate and inform product stakeholders. Over the years, I have built prototypes on Windows, OSX, iPhone/IOS, Android, Linux, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other embedded devices. These prototypes have been written in combinations of Java, JavaScript, Objective C, C, C#, C++, Python, and Flash. They utilized many different databases including MS-SQL, Oracle, SQLite, MySQL and IOS Core Data Services. I also co-authored a technical analysis and business plan for a project that had a company-wide impact. Several of my projects were successfully transitioned into production. My responsibilities in this group include:• Work with exploration teams to organize and structure their processes. Guide them in structuring output and help them achieve clarity and direction with the goal of creating back-logs which are used to define work requirements.• Architectural design and breakdown for applications and prototype building. • Participate in the building of prototypes, specializing in building back-end infrastructures, frameworks, and functional modules. Back-end infrastructures include diverse combinations of inter-process and inter-machine communications.• Act as Scrum Master for build teams. Responsible for most of the detailed project planning and task breakdown for scrum planning. Leading groups of 2-7 people on projects.• Function as a go-to resource for anything relating to Music Metadata, Music Retrieval, Databases, Windows, Machine Virtualization, Web Services, and other technologies.• Assisting the production test group in developing test strategies and processes for QA.• Work with multiple groups in the company to get them started with Enterprise iPhone development and application distribution.
