David M. Daftary is a civil litigation attorney based in Carlsbad, California. In 2013, David started his own law practice, which focuses on real estate, land use, landlord-tenant disputes, construction, personal injury, professional negligence, and public entity law.Before establishing his own law practice, David worked as an attorney in both the public and private sector. David previously served as Deputy City Attorney for Oceanside, California, where he handled litigation for the City and served as an adviser to several City departments. While working for the City of Oceanside, David co-authored an appellate brief in a case regarding the Vienna Convention on Consular Rights, that was argued before Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. [Cornejo v. County of San Diego, et al., 504 F.3d 853 (9th Cir. 2007)]. David also worked for the San Diego offices of Koeller, Nebeker, Carlson & Haluck and Endeman, Lincoln, Turek & Heater (now known as Allen, Semelsberger & Kaelin), where he represented clients in complex civil actions involving dozens of parties. While at Endeman Lincoln, David represented San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E) in eminent domain actions to acquire easements for Sunrise Powerlink and East County Substation projects, and served as Counsel to the Golden Valley Municipal Water District.David has been licensed to practice law in the State of California since 2003. He is also licensed to practice in the US District Court for the Southern District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. David is a member of the Board of Directors of the North County Bar Association, and is a member of the Fiorenzo V. Lopardo chapter of the American Inns of Court.
