Senior Economist

Seoul, Korea

The senior economist for the state owned Korea Exchange Bank and the Ministry of Finance , based in Seoul, South Korea. They made an error employing me to this senior position, believing me to be older and more experienced than I was because I had temporarily been editing the 'Director's Guide to the UK economy' after leaving LSE, due to someone being ill! They were going to find someone else when they realised, but I grew into the job so they let me keep it!Main responsibilities included running their research divisions and producing various reports for the Korean Government and on the Korean economy. Also formally advised senior government officials and politicians on what I thought UK and western policy announcements probably really meant as opposed to what literal translations told them.
