Temporary assignment in Construction. Worked onsite on various projects between Santa Cruz and Big Sur. Main role was quality assurance during the construction process. Typical work days included onsite meetings with project managers, project engineers, and contractors. Documenting construction operation details, personnel, machinery and quantities. In case of deviations or discrepancies from project plans, recommendations were given to the contractor, documented, and redlined in the project plans. Projects worked on ranged from $200,000 emergency drainage work to $30 million roadway rehabilitation (paving, guardrail, underground drainage/electrical, ADA ramps, etc.)

Temporary assignment in Traffic Operations. Typical tasks included reviewing permit plans for construction or special events within or near Caltrans right of way. Plans would be evaluated based on impacts to traffic, then recommendations on lane closure types and traffic detours would be given. Intergovernmental reviews were also done on proposed developments that impact traffic flow and roadway service life within Caltrans right of way. Mitigation would be given based on the impacts and the cost to implement it would be given to the developer.

• Used GIS to produce cost estimates for land maintenance contracts. • Evaluated recycled water pipeline plans and created design improvements. • Located and mapped water meters throughout the City of Clovis. The data was then used in GIS to create an efficient route for meter reading.

• Worked in a geotechnical laboratory performing various soil and construction materials testing.• Report field samples to the laboratory for analysis. • Operated drill rig used for SPT testing, boring log data, and attaining soil samples. • Visited construction sites and operated a nuclear gauge to test soil density and moisture content.

• Did research for utility pole inspections and developed methodologies for determining the strength of existing utility poles. • Created a manual that can be followed by estimators to help determine the strength of existing utility poles. The manual includes step by step instructions, formulas, and excel spread sheets. The level of safety can be estimated more accurately and it would be an economical solution to prevent premature pole replacements. • Designed and modeled utility poles for structural analysis. • Field visits to conduct structural analysis on existing utility poles
