Work on individual projects or as a team using Technology Readiness Levels aligned with NP&SI overarching process to incrementally evaluate technologies for inclusion into our products. Work through understanding a potential installation, identify vendors that can help develop or co-develop products while understanding how the intellectual property can work with our products.Improve our cognizance of transportation technologies to understand what customer satisfiers and customer pleasers can look like in a 1/5/10 year timeframe.

Design and Mechanical Engineering Duties. Reverse Engineering work with FARO Arm, Solidworks CAD. Design for Manufacturing. Sourcing Vendors, Communication with Vendors Abroad and Local. Develop Proof of Concept models and coordinate manufacturing of First Articles and Prototypes. Work with QC Department to verify metrics and Finish requirements. Large usage of Rapid Prototyping to make Tools, check Fits, and Evaluate Prototypes before making tooling/etc for Metal/Formed/Molded components. Human Factors development of Hand and Foot controls and Human Interface components.

Mechanical Engineering Duties. High-Style conceptual work, done with Designer. Wheelset Design, Testing to JASO standards, and CAE work with ANSYS and COSMOS. Reverse Engineering work with FARO Arm and Autodesk Inventor software. Lots of Proof of Concept and Prototype work for Formed Metal / Machined Metal / Composite / Molded components. Coordination of test articles, and running Data Acquisition system to garner Stress/Strain/Vibration information for evaluating Isolation and NVH issues. Repair work to NHSTA standards.
