Mr. Decker’s involvement with gas engines began in 1968 with the purchase of his first British sports car and a passion for racing. He earned a specialist I.C.E. degree (Internal Combustion Engines) from the University of New York- Alfred. After graduation he entered the racing industry beginning first as a mechanic and advancing to Crew Chief. He worked several prominent and cutting edge racing team including Team McLaren of North America, Budweiser Racing, Roerhrig Racing, and Bud Friend Racing Engines before eventually building and modifying his own racing engines. In 1980, Mr. Decker accepted a position with Ingersoll-Rand as a Junior Engineer in charge of Field Service crews. In the ensuing 35 years with Ingersoll-Rand, now Dresser-Rand, he worked as a test-bed and research technician and for the last 15 years of his career with the company he was as the sole gas engine instructor world-wide. Mr. Decker currently serves as the Manager of the Compression Curriculum for Gas Engines and Compressors at the Lackawanna College School of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
