Profile bio

About David D.

I always thought I would work in Therapy or Clinical Psychology, acquiring my BA in Psychology & Sociology, but I consistently felt I enjoyed Statistics a little more and stumbled upon this course in I/O Psychology while working as a Business Intelligence Specialist. Enamored with improving workplaces with research and data, I decided to pursue a MA after some much-needed soul searching (I secretly kept wondering about being a therapist). This led to where I am now, working in compensation and falling for all the aspects of being an analyst. To me, this is only the beginning. As a Compensation Analyst, I have a deep-seated passion for extracting, exploring, and transforming salary and people data to build and administer Compensation Structures and Programs. Supported through insightful Dashboards, and Reports, I have been instrumental in developing and implementing my current organization's first compensation structure. Highly detail-oriented, methodical, and familiar with data analysis processes and tools, I am always looking to incorporate statistical and data analytics more into compensation, and the entire HR function, to make more informed decisions. Continuous learning also drives me, and I am always open to expanding my skills, while also upskilling on my own, with exposure to other domains of data analytics, noting my experience in Institutional Research acting as a Business Intelligence Specialist.Hard Skills: Compensation Structure Development, Market Analysis, Job Analysis, Survey Development & Administration, MS Excel (Advanced - Macros & VBA), PayFactors, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, R (Statistical Analysis)Actively Learning: Python & R (Programming)Thanks for reading!

Compensation Analyst

St. Louis, Missouri, Us

Being a Compensation Analyst, I drive value by collaborating with senior management on the design and implementation of ECPs first codified job architecture/compensation structure in Dayforce and Payfactors. This includes building pay ranges connected to grade levels with systematized job codes and master job titles pointing to descriptive data such compa-ratios. This construction involves the collection, exploration, and analysis of employee salary data from internal reports and market-based compensation surveys to benchmark jobs and develop financial analysis models detailing cost impact and budgets. To aid senior management in understanding these complex structures, I visualize salary data through multiple mediums such as Excel, Tableau, and Payfactors reporting tools.I also support the compensation function through merit and market adjustment processes, post-mortem analysis, driving job analysis and job description library creation and management, performing ad hoc benchmarking based upon business needs, and creating relevant compensation training. I am very driven by the prospect of making data-driven decisions and will continue to strive toward building processes to this end while I am here.

Process Improvement was much of my impact here. Notably by streamlining points of contact, notifications, and metric tracking by utilizing Workday to crystallize loosely defined processes in recruiting, selection, and placement. This shaved off about 10+ hours from the HR department's weekly duties.I also maintained employee data integrity via audits and updates, compiled reports through Workday tools, and automated some that were manual. Assisted with job postings and conducted new hire orientations for 150+ employees and processes standard paperwork such as I-9s.Lastly, I acted as a resource for employees regarding all manner of HR questions which served as a great way to learn FMLA, Workers' Compensation, Benefits Administration, and PTO accrual policies and laws.

I developed and updated Power Queries and SQL script to improve multiple automated reporting functions and respond to the recurring data needs of IR. These were reviewed by others before implementation to ensure my work would produce desired results and I often used this time to learn what I could do better in my scripting and queries. I also created multiple PowerPoint training presentations complete with interactive elements and smooth transitions using current and updated training materials. Formatted web-based surveys and distributed them to the end-users then reported on the results, creating dashboards in Power BI after partnering with Analysts to clean the data. There was a strong focus placed on data storytelling and narrative analysis of IR data throughout dashboard and visualization development and this was supported through meetings and collaboration allowing me to build greater IR domain knowledge.
