During my Master's Thesis research I accomplished the following: • Developed and mathematically optimized a 3D printed neck exoskeleton robot for assisting ALS patients, achieving >500% better force transmission, 300% more assistance, and 150% better target tracking compared to the previous version.• Led the design and execution of simulations, benchtop experiments, and user studies to evaluate the optimized mechanism's performance, employing statistical tools for comprehensive data analysis.• Managed the systematic organization and analysis of complex data sets, guiding the direction for future versions of the neck exoskeleton.Notable Technical Details:• Devised a genetic optimization algorithm in MATLAB, encoding 33 parameters to iteratively optimize the exoskeleton's structural stability and range of motion.• Automated SOLIDWORKS assembly updates based on MATLAB optimization output, streamlining the design process.• Engineered a LABVIEW program for automated control and data collection during experimental protocols, integrating Noraxon EMG, Unity visuals, and IMU sensors.• Implemented an I2C protocol for seamless communication between IMU sensors and the LABVIEW program.
