I am responsible for the sales Finance function of a worldwide group of companies outside of the United States with a turnover of USD 200 million+ within a USD 500 million+ group. I am a Director of various worldwide subsidiary companies and lead a team of 17 based in 3 international locations together with a global network of local advisors. I integrated the N2X division of Agilent, Veriwave, Anue, BPS & Net Optics acquisitions into the international activities of the group. As well as US reporting and SOX for the parent entity I am responsible for worldwide local reporting and compliance including local statutory accounts and audits, tax, transfer pricing, VAT and indirect taxes, payroll and payroll and other taxes. In addition I work closely with the sales VP's and global sales teams in EMEA, APAC and the Americas on commercial negotiations, credit and collections issues and oversee other diverse areas with a finance impact including treasury and hedging functions, international shipping and customs issues, international formations and liquidations and corporate governance of international entities. I have been responsible for various GL accounting systems implementations along with other worldwide implementations for Concur expense reporting and ADP payroll systems.

Responsible for all Finance functions of the group outside of the United States which represented 90% of group turnover. Initially part of a team recruited to develop the company's 3G business and office structure throughout EMEA. Subsequently established and ran an international tax structure and established worldwide subsidiaries in locations like China and India. Responsible for international consolidations, all local accounts, audit and tax compliance, transfer pricing and FIN48, SOX controls and compliance and adherence to US software revenue recognition rules.

I was responsible for the complete Finance function for all energy companies in the group outside of North America which had a combined turnover of USD 41 million within a USD 415 million turnover group. Developed with the Board and implemented a business plan and strategy for the International business. Responsible for rationalising offices and businesses.

As a shareholder and part of the leadership team I developed the company from £700K to £3.5 million turnover with capital raising from the Loan Guarantee Scheme, seed capital from Conoco and venture capital from 3i. Negotiated the eventual sale of the company to IHS Energy Group for £8.3 million. Board member and company secretary responsible for all financial, HR, administrative and legal matters. Established overseas offices in Singapore, the United States and Australia.

I worked in a general practice department on audit , tax compliance and capital raising/acquisition work. Having joined in October 1986 I was promoted on 1st January 1988, 1989 and 1990 eventually to the level of Manager I. I worked on large audits like Allied Dunbar and various life assurance and unit trust groups as well as various investigations and special work assignments including the purchase of Safeway by the Argyll Group, the sale of British Fuels, venture capital raising by Stalwart Assurance, estate agency acquisitions by Liberty Life and capital raising by MGM Assurance

Responsible for management accounts, budget preparation and monitoring, capital expenditure processes, VAT, audit and statutory accounts for the manufacturing group. Implemented new computerised accounting systems for group departments and one of the operating divisions.
