I was recruited by thyssenkrupp to take over, manage, improve and align an Engineering business that had been acquired in April 2015 in the Port Hedland Area. This was part of a larger strategic plan to establish a full time services and aftermarket presence in the region. thyssenkrupp have over 80 Ship loaders, Stackers and Reclaimers (rail mounted bulk resource materials handling machines) in the north west of Western Australia and are growing the repair and maintenance service levels they provide. Since then, we have grown the North West Services team to over 40, identified and executed further investment and diversification opportunities, purchased and upgraded new premises and are now recognised as one of the premium workshop services, fixed plant maintenance and rail service provider in the area.

I spent 6 years P&H MinePro Services Southern Africa. Started as a Service Engineer and was promoted to General Manager and Director of P&H MinePro Services Botswana (Pty) Ltd. I grew it from commencement to the success story of P&H MinePro Southern Africa (A wholly owned subsidiary of Joy Global USA). I managed two successful regional branches in Botswana with full repair and maintenance contracts on four De Beers / Debswana mines.• General Management of the company which included the placement of subordinate site managers at different locations to manage contracts and equipment.• New business development.• Establishment and growth of upper mining management relationships.• Marketing presentations, Sales negotiation and tendering on new equipment and services.• Development of financial and technical maintenance models for use in maintenance & sales contracts.• Growth of the companies interests into new areas and products.• Review of mining applications and mining requirements for the purpose of tendering on the correct machine or service for the customers application.

Pit Control was the manufacturer of the worlds most advanced shovel load control system. The mining industry in general had identified the need and advantage of load control at the shovel and their product was gaining acceptance rapidly.I developed large portions of the logical and mathematical modelling then also commissioned and calibrated the systems after installation with the advantage that I gained exposure to mining practices across the globe.

Palabora Mining Co. was one of the largest open pit Copper mines in the world and was the only mine to process its copper from a raw state to 99.9% pure copper rod.During my six years as an employee I was exposed to and participated in the maintenance of Trolley assisted truck haulage systems, Electric rope shovels, Drilling Rigs, Computerised truck dispatching systems and computerised shovel weighing systems etc.
